Santa Barbara Wedding [Regan + Chris]

06.21.08

As I drove into Santa Barbara, I rolled down the window to feel the cool breeze run through my hair, but received something quite opposite. It was unusually hot that day + everyone definitely felt it. Regardless of the weather, this wedding was AWESOME! I had SO much photographing + laughing...lots of laughing :)

Regan + Chris got married at the Rockwood Woman's Club. I started my day with the ladies, who were making the finishing touches to their hair + make-up.

According to Regan's dad, she's always been a "wild child," a free spirit. So, when she decided to go backpacking through Europe solo, it came as no surprise to her family. Sometime during her trip, she was walking through Regent's Park in London and decided to rest for a bit. A stranger walks over + starts up a conversation with her. A few years later, she's standing across from that same guy, in front of their family + friends, saying "I do!" Who would've guessed?

Right before Regan goes in for the kiss, her sister + maid of honor sprays a little breath freshener to make that first kiss as husband + wife really nice :) That was totally unexpected + so funny!

We then headed over to the nearby mission + played around a bit. This place was a dream...

The girls got a little hot, so they hiked up their dresses to get a little air.

Regan's friend, Breezy, sang an amazing opera piece, which totally captivated the crowd.

Regan + Chris had a nice first dance, but what followed was truly entertaining.

They sang + dance to the classic song "You're the One that I Want" from Grease. They were awesome!

I think the real action in this image is the guy with the big granny panties on his head to the left :)

THANK YOU Chris + Regan for allowing me to document you're crazy beautiful day! I had such a great time! I wish you both lots of love + great adventures together!

Sea World!

07.12.08

I used to be a big ZOO gal...until I discovered that tigers can leap out of their confined area + attack (San Jose Zoo). Lately, I've been visiting Sea World quite a bit with Sophia. Last Saturday was extra cool, because my sister + her family got to join in on the fun too!

Here are a few images from our day.

Saying goodbye

07.08.08

Saying goodbye is hard to do. Lisa, Susie + I met for lunch at the Amarin Thai Restaurant in Hillcrest as we said farewell and good luck to our fellow wedding photographer + friend Lynn. She's leaving San Diego for Phoenix to spend her days in 120 degree heat + swimming in her 95 degree pool. I'm trying hard to fight the envy.

In all seriousness, I'm gonna miss her! Not only have we learned so much from each other + have grown as photographers, but we've become good friends. I can't wait to see what the future holds for her...in Phoenix.

Here are a few images of these amazing wedding photographers.

If you have a chance, come check out Amarin's lunch specials. My favorite is the cashew chicken. yummy!

Swimming...

06.05.08

Being in or near the water is very important to John + I. I had been on the swim team in high school + had swam in rivers + lakes, but had never really been exposed to open water swimming...that is, until I met John. Our first date, we went kayaking in the ocean (or at least attempted to) during winter time. About 2 years ago, I competed in my first swim competition, the Ja Lolla Rough Water Swim. I practiced every morning in our local lap pool for a month, trying to perfect my swim technique. Around that time, during my birthday, John's present to me was a 2-day class to be a certified scuba diver.

Over the last few years, I've really grown to love swimming + being the ocean.

Because swimming is so essential to us, we signed Sophia up for her first swim lesson:) She's such a natural. Here are a few images of our little cutie.
